Driver's Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) / Driver's Abstract (shows driving infractions and licence history) often provided by the ministry of transportation/governing body which issues licences - 3 years minimum insurance experience required for international licences outside of North America
Why Does Roam's Insurance Provider Require These Documents?
There are a number of situations where a letter of insurance experience is useful:
- You have an Non-Ontario or International licence
- Our insurance provider has identified discrepancies or inconsistent information and requires additional verification
What is a 'Letter of Experience' or 'Policy Breakdown'?
This document outlines your history with a previous insurance provider. It will typically include this information:
- Policy holder information
- The policy number
- The policy start and end date
- Drivers listed on the policy
- Claims history
- Reasons for any insurance cancellations
What is a 'Motor Vehicle Record' or 'Driver's Abstract'?
- Licence Holder Personal Details (Name, Gender, Height, Etc)
- License Number
- Expiration Date
- Issue Date
- Traffic Violations
- License Suspension
- Vehicular Crimes
- Driving Record Points
- Conditions and Endorsements
What Happens If I Cannot Provide These Documents?
Unfortunately, the likelihood of our insurance provider processing your request at this time would be low since they tend to want to see additional details if requested, we are working to update our policies to allow more flexibility for clients!
Will This Be Changing in the Future?
At the moment our current insurance provider wants to ensure the safety of all those in our vehicles and the safety of all people on the road, if additional documents are requests, they must be provided to continue with our service. We are always working towards doing what we can to provide more flexibility for our customers. Our goal is to have everyone in a Roam vehicle!
