Using your vehicle for work, or as a company perk? It's easy to bring existing insurance coverage
Step by Step Guide
Who is eligible ?
Any subscription is eligible to be transferred into a business account. To create an account, you must request a document from your company's insurance provider, which shows proof of your company's insurance policy. Once applicable coverage is confirmed by Roam, your account will be automatically converted.
There's no additional cost to your company to use this existing coverage for any employee.
Tip 🚚 : Personal insurance policies under an individual name or vehicle are not applicable for this discount. Roam only supports the bringing of commercial or company insurance policies at this time.
How To Bring Your Own Insurance
Interested in bringing your own insurance to a subscription? Confirm eligibility above, and book a call here with a Roam Subscription Success Manager to get started.
Step 1: Request a COI (Certificate of Insurance)
Send an email to your Company's insurance broker and request a COI. The document can take 1-2 business days to turn around. A COI is a one page PDF document that outlines insurance coverage.
The email will look like this:
Hi <Broker>,
Can you please expedite a COI, we are looking to confirm liability coverage for a vehicle rental.
The COI can be made out to:
CURBO INC. o/a ROAM
18 KING ST. EAST, UNIT 1400
TORONTO, ON M5C 1C4
Thanks.
Tip: Typically, the Owner, Finance Controller, COO, or Human Resources Execs have the contact information to email your broker. Make sure to confirm that switching insurance coverage works for you and your company. To understand the differences and coverage responsibilities, reference the chart below.
Step 2: Email your COI to Roam
When your COI has been received, please have it emailed to support@roam.auto, include the name, email, and phone number of the employee you wish to add coverage for. This email can be sent directly from the insurance broker, or from the representative in the company who requested it from your insurance broker.
The email will look like this:
Hi Roam Team,
The COI is attached. Please confirm coverage for <employee name>, for their vehicle subscription with Roam.
<Phone Number>
<Email>
<Your Name>,
Thanks.
Please allow up to 2 business days for Roam to verify that your commercial policy provides sufficient coverage.
On the COI, there are 2 major checkboxes that will determine if your commercial policy is eligible on a Roam vehicle, to save up to $100/month.
- Your policy must provide coverage for: Any Auto or Non Owned Auto, Hired Auto, or Scheduled Autos
- Your policy liability limit must be a minimum of $2,000,000, and have minimum $50,000 for physical damage coverage.
Step 3: Processing & Updating Your Coverage
Your Subscription Success Manager will review your COI to determine eligibility. Once eligible coverage is confirmed, you will be sent an updated agreement, and your insurance discount will be added! It's that simple!

Additional Insurance Coverage & Hybrid Options
All subscriptions are eligible for additional incident insurance coverage through RoamCare. This provides coverage for incidentals and damage relating to:
- Interior damage or stains
- Glass protection for cracks and chips
- Scratch and dent protection
- Tire damage and replacement coverage
- Key loss and replacement coverage
Roam also provides the option for companies to use Roam's insurance to for collision related damage, in the form of a damage collision waiver. This would provide hybrid coverage for damage, while still allowing flexibility to use Roam or your own company's liability coverage.
