What's a Start fee?

Seasonal and Long Term Plans include a start fee to lower your monthly payments, and give you the ability to freeze your subscription.

What's A Start fee?

A Start fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee. Think of it like a down payment (commonly called a "cap. cost reduction" in traditional leases), which is one of the factors that helps lower the cost of your monthly payment. This payment can be moved across your Roam subscription to other vehicles, and is held on file up to 3 months when you need to freeze your subscription.

Does the Start Fee go towards my monthly payment?

No, the start fee unlocks a reduced subscription payment.  The start fee is a 1 time fee, non-refundable and paid upfront before you begin the subscription.


What there benefits to placing a Start Fee on a Seasonal or Long term Plan?

There are quite a few extra benefits!

  • It reduces your monthly subscription payment
  • Freeze your subscription up to 3 months every year, lock your pricing.
  • First priority to vehicle selection on returning and incoming vehicle
  • Your payment is honoured for 12 months, and you're protected form price increases

Which Plan Should I Choose?

 

Basic (For the rental experience)
$0 Start Fee
Ideal for subscribers who only need a vehicle with Roam for 1-2 months. Similar to the traditional rental vehicle experience with a few extra perks.


Seasonal (For the full subscription experience)

$500-$1000 Start Fee

Ideal for those who are looking for a vehicle for 3-6 months. Pause your plan up to 3 months if you need to take a break and come back later. Payment protected up to 12 months. Vehicle model prioritized.

Long Term (For the full subscription experience)
$1000-$1500 Start Fee
The best pricing. Ideal for those who are looking for a vehicle for 7-12 months. Pause your plan up to 3 months if you need to take a break and come back later. Payment protected up to 12 months. Vehicle model prioritized.

What if I need to cancel my plan early?

There is no penalty to cancel your subscription plan earlier than the recommended period.
We put the recommended subscription length in the plan descriptions so you have a better idea of what subscribers choose when they are looking to get the most value for the start fee amount they put down. Generally speaking, both seasonal and long term plans will see savings greater than the initial start fee amount, after the first 3 months.

I.e. A vehicle might be $1400 monthly payment on a flexible plan, and $1050 on a seasonal plan. If a seasonal plan has a $1000 start payment, The savings will be realized by the 4th month.

Freeze Your Subscription payment

The ability to pause your subscription has been a common ask from long term subscribers. Now, it's possible with our subscription freeze feature, which allows you to freeze your subscription up to 3 months of the year.

Simply return your vehicle, and pick up another one when you're ready to resubscribe, with the same discounts regardless of term length. No more term locks, early cancellations, or billing complexity to deal with from ending a subscription term early.

Am I eligible for a seasonal or longer term plans?

All current Roam subscribers are eligible to choose a seasonal or long term plan. These plans are available across every vehicle in our lineup.

Even if you need to return the vehicle early, you can select these plans and choose to pause them up to 3 months, to resume at the same discounted payment when you come back.

Existing Roam subscribers will be given the option to upgrade to the new subscription plan and pricing structure, or continue with their existing grandfathered plan. New plans will take effect on the website starting Feb 29, 2024.

Ready to go? To get started, simply talk with your Roam Subscription Success Manager. You can email support@roam.auto, or call us at 647 360 9640. In order to activate a new Roam Premium Plan, an updated subscription agreement will be sent to you. Your plan change will take effect immediately after signing. If you're an existing subscriber looking to upgrade, an Account Manager can help you create and customize your existing plan into a new plan.

Can I upgrade anytime?

Yes! You can upgrade anytime.

You also have the option to choose a Plan, and upgrade at a later date to a higher tier. i.e Upgrading to a Long Term from Seasonal. This gives you flexibility to try the service and decide if Roam is the right mid-long  term solution for your needs.
